Loitered Lens: Deerhoof

Uncompromising in sound, eclectic in vision. Deerhoof at NOS Primavera Sound

hreading a path through the sartorial obligations of avant garde noise punk post rock is an erratic journey, particularly when it wends its way along the cobbled mosaic streets of Porto.

For Deerhoof, the challenge is undaunting. Resplendent at NOS Primavera Sound, the stage personae chosen reflect the eclectic nature of the band’s sonic approach. There’s definitely some hairy krautrock influence in there on keys, but the unexpected vision of Will Self in Angus Young’s castoffs must surely take the prize for figurative determinism.

It’s a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world….
