Throughout jazz legend Ella Fitzgerald’s extraordinary career, awards and applause acclaimed her talent. What Ella really wanted to hear though – was that she was beautiful. Problem was, Ella wasn’t, and this made her unhappy. Acclaimed, wealthy and unhappy.

She craved what she didn’t have, plus it was unattainable.
