Parlophone (and its imprint label, Regal) follow the success of last year’s Record Store Day with another series of limited vinyl releases showcasing both established and developing artists.

Last year saw The Beatles, Blur, Pet Shop Boys and Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse 7”s become among the most sought after items of the event, with fans queuing for hours outside their local shops.

Each release is strictly limited (maximum 500) and UK-only.  They will come in a vintage-style paper Parlophone house bag with a jukebox-sized centre hole. The series is designed to celebrate the artistic talent at Parlophone, to support vinyl culture and to recognise the crucial role of independent record shops within UK music. This year’s event takes place on Saturday April 16th across over 120 independent record shops.

In addition to the 7” series, Parlophone will also be releasing the vinyl LP format for the Gorillaz album ‘The Fall’, a 7” AA single from Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi from the album ‘Rome’ (featuring both Jack White and Norah Jones) and a remix 12” from Jónsi, lead singer of Sigur Rós.

Miles Leonard, President of Parlophone: "Some of the most unique and sought-after records are found in our Indie Stores across the UK. I hope music lovers find the Parlophone collection for Record Store Day equally as exciting and collectable as we do."

Jónsi: "When we get a new record back from the plant it's always the vinyl we want to see first.  It's just so much the best format in terms of smell, touch, checking the artwork and, of course, the sound.  We love vinyl and we love independent stores; independent coffee shops, independent health food stores, vintage stores and, yes, record stores. Just don't ask me to play any more in-stores…"

Steve Sparrow, lead singer of Morning Parade: “More than ever we're living in a faceless age, where the majority of people are listening to music in the worst possible format. There is a unique experience about entering an independent store and looking through the wealth of music history it contains, and there's nothing like vinyl for sound quality. We've really enjoyed performing instores and we're really excited to be involved this year.”
