What’s He Building in There?

A preview of James Johnston‘s World of interiors exhibition 2025

A painting by James Johnston, Tightrope, 2025

James Johnston latest set of paintings is a return to the mythic character themes of his previous works but Johnston’s progression as an artist is clear. The figures and imagery is clearer and the work has a clarity of vision and execution that bring Johnston to a new level. Described by Johnston as a portrayal of ‘Interiors of all types, obsessional behaviours, self absorption etc’ this promises to be solid development in this artists career.

Solo painting show ‘World of Interiors’ opens 6pm Tuesday June 17th, then up until June 29th. Fitzrovia Gallery, 139 Whitfield St, London W1. The shows draws on work based both on domestic interiors, and also more psychological interiors: states of mind, fears, obsessions.

June 17th launch night is open to all!
