About this event:
[19.09.19] London-based artist of Iranian origin, Mehrak Davoudi, works in sculpture, painting, installation and performance. Themes of exile, identity and transformation are at the core of her practice. She last exhibited at the Muse as part of the gallery’s residency programme competition last year and returns with a solo show of new works this autumn.
The Illumination of the Soul is a contemporary interpretation of ancient philosophies and invites light to blend the tangible with the subconscious. Manipulated to reveal and obscure, to turn the inside out, Davoudi’s sculptures invite contemplation on the memories and emotions hidden within the folds of these contorted objects. The works’ reflective surface simultaneously mirrors the artist’s personal experience that informed the work, and the viewer’s reflection upon it.
The Illumination of the Soul run at the Muse gallery from 19 September – 6 October. Further information here.
