The Vines – Vision Valley (2006) – EMI

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia:

The Vines are an Australian garage rock band notable for producing a raw musical hybrid of 60's rock and 90's alternative; the band being popularly promoted as "The Beatles meets Nirvana”.

I suppose it’s lazy to steal thirty out of a hundred-fifty words from a free website. Far lazier, surely, to release a record this derivative. Is there anything to add to the above entry? Well not really. There’s nothing here that hasn’t been bettered already by either Kurt Cobain or the Fab Four. As a poorly produced, passionless and sub-standard substitute to such luminaries, I’m left wondering as to the point. I guess if you’ve exhausted the entire back-catalogue of the Beatles, Nirvana, Foo Fighters et al and are looking for more of the same then you might find some pleasure in this record. For all others, my advice is to steer well clear.
