For our inaugural issue Trebuchet introduces itself to the UK by capturing a special exclusive dialogue between artists Damien Hirst and Tom Ormond. Damien Hirst is famous for selling a shark in formaldehyde both as art and for a hefty price and Tom Ormond has been labeled ‘the one to watch’ by a wide selection of industry pundits. What are the preparations for artistic fame? Damien Hirst achieved artistic fame long ago but is he prepared for global acceptance, canonization, and potentially artistic irrelevance? Conversely, Tom Ormond is finally about to get the recognition he has long deserved; will this affect his art from now on? We catch Tom and Damien on the eve of their joint show at the Serpentine Gallery which opens on Friday the 24th of November.
